Bifenthrin

Of the class pyrethroid, it is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide

UK: Resistance worries for fruit production
Using the PSD's revised assessment, Dr Jerry Cross of East Malling Research has drawn up a list of significant active substances used in fruit production that could be lost: - Pyrethroids (cypermethrin, lambda cyhalothrin, BIFENTHRIN, deltamethrin) - important specific uses such as control of spider mite outbreaks with BIFENTHRIN on strawberry in Scotland and use of deltamethrin for raspberry beetle.

POOR storage continues to be potentially a weak link for quality in the cereal supply chain.
The second driver, says Mr Cook, is the continuing loss of insecticide products available for use in grain stores. Malathion (co-formulated with BIFENTHRIN in Prostore) has recently failed to achieve Annex 1 listing, leaving pirimiphos-methyl (Actellic/ Fumite) and chlorpyrifos-methyl (Reldan) as the remaining surface application or admixed chemical options for storage pest control. Fumigation options have been limited to phosphine following the withdrawal of methyl bromide.
