Enjoying the cool weatherHomeowners have an almost overwhelming number of control choices. Products containing DELTAMETHRIN, cyfluthrin, cypermethrin and cyhalothrin are effective. These are sold under a wide variety of name brands. Carbaryl or Sevin has been a standard for many years. Homeowners should read the label and make sure the insecticide is labeled for lawns or turf. Reducing the chances of bluetongue infectionThe Defra technical review on bluetongue maintains that targeted use of synthetic pyrethroids such as DELTAMETHRIN applied weekly in and around animal housing and directly onto the target animals should be effective as a practical disease defence strategy. Aggressive wasps are cicada killersThey are effective cicada predators. While in flight, the wasp catches and then transports the cicada back to its burrow. While I prefer not to kill the wasps, you can spray or dust the burrow opening with chemicals containing carbaryl or DELTAMETHRIN, which are available at most garden centers. The wasp will carry the chemicals inside. Source: cleveland, Date and Time of entry: 28 August 2007 13:17
